The producers of Generation Why are very excited to contribute to Arin Crumley and Kieran Masterson’s hugely innovative filmmaker distribution project called OpenIndie. This Kickstarter campaign they’ve started is an effort to raise enough funds to start a website that will attempt to bring filmmakers, and the audiences they have built for themselves, together to form a collaborative network of cinemaphiles to share in movies that are not going to be exhibited in a traditional fashion.
Basically the site would create an opportunity for members of the online community to host screenings of any film on the server that they are excited about, invite others in the online community to come share it with them, and collect donations at the screening to give to the filmmakers.
This is a perfect model for Generation Why, as a large part of our struggle has been enabling audiences to see the film, and connecting to new potential fans.
